dining

Shirley said the pizzaria one on the 21rst of Feb. would work well for her. I mentioned two other dates but that one would work well for me and would be the right time for our book club.

Blog

Yeah Kathy!  I see Kathy got into the blog!  I was starting to wonder if  we would ever be able to talk as a group!  I am so excited!  Kathy is now the expert on how to connect as a co-author and not the administrator.  You can set it up so that it posts to the blog and email at the same time.  I am still unsure if Kathy did this individually or if it is happening as a result of what I did - would you let us know Kathy.  Congrats again!

Have a great day guys!!!

Red River Inn

The days that would work well for me are April 3rd Fine Dinning or Feb.26th Bistro. They all sound good!

Book Club

This is my first time blogging so am just blogging to see how to do it. If we keep book club on the 3rd week of the month that will be the pizza one, can't remember what the third week of march is if there is one. Or are we just going to pick anytime during the month?

2008 Overviews of Information, lots of information

Good Morning Fellow Readers!

Blog - I reinvited all of you to the blog.  Go ahead and try to set up an account.  Please be aware that I presently have all of your emails set to automatically post to the website.  If you want certain posts removed let me know.  If you want to have it private give me a call (671-2612).  I think we will all enjoy using the blog to communicate how we feel about books when we don't make it to the meeting.  The Blog has the 2008 reads listed.

January 16th Meeting - We did have a meeting last night with three of us - fun, fun.  A couple did not like The Dip at all, those of us last night thought it had valid points to walk away with and therefore recommended the read overall.

February 20th Meeting - We will be meeting next month at the Wilkin, Feb. 20th (unless we pick the River Valley Inn option) but not in the conference room, we are going to try meeting on the East side in front, so instead of going left when you walk in go right.  The book is Bel Canto: a novel by Ann Patchett - we have it at the library - let me know if you want on the list, another member has already started reading it.  I will try to send out an R.S.V.P. a week in advance but I will leave it on your shoulders to R.S.V.P. if I don't.  I want the establishments we use to feel respected.  I will also go to the restaurant if I have not been able to touch base with everyone, in general I will only stay for 15 minutes (5:15) to wait and see who comes unless they have notified they will be late in the R.S.V.P.  - I say this only so I don't miss you and have frustrated members.  As always attending members make present choices.  Everyone is always welcome, whether you read all or none of the book.

2008 Schedule
If anyone wants to get going on one of the reads in the future - let me know.  I will try to bring them to the February meeting.  Here is our tentative 2008 reads as of now:

January     The Dip
February    Bel Canto
March        Water for Elephants
April          Salsa (you pick)
May          The Last Templar
June          Amy & Isabelle
July           Off
August       The Pursuit of Happyness
Ideas:  Screwtape Letters, Beowulf

River Valley Inn Restaurant - I have included the schedule for the River Valley Inn Restaurant here at NDSCS.  It will be fun to meet there once, twice, etc.  Please pick your top two meals in rank order and date if applicable - the top vote will win.
Restaurant 2008 Schedule

January 17 - Sandwich Menu - Opening Night Sandwich Menu
January 22 and 24 - Italian
January 29 and 31 - Steakhouse

February 5 and 7 - Diner
February 12 and 14 - Valentine's Menu
February 21 - Pizzeria
February 26 and 28 - Bistro

March 13 - Buffet
March 27 - Japanese/Sushi

April 1 or 3 - Fine Dining
April 17 - Buffet

River Valley Inn Restaurant

The River Valley Inn, a restaurant operated by students in the NDSCS Culinary Arts program, features a variety of menus during spring semester. The River Valley Inn is open 5-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Student Center Red River Valley Room.
Please call for a reservation beginning Tuesday afternoon the week prior restaurant date. Room is limited and reservations are needed for anyone planning to attend.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL FOR EARLY RESERVATIONS. In an effort to be fair to all involved we will open reservations up to the campus and public at the same time and day each week. Large groups (more than 8) will be accommodated when possible, but may not be seated in the same section.
Once a table has been reserved, our students then determine how to plan for guests both in the kitchen and in the dining room.

Reservations can be made by calling 701-671-2405 or stopping at the Student Center Customer Service Desk.

Take care - stay warm and cozy!!!

Tina.

Re: Meeting Tonight

Hi,
I'm not planning on being at the meeting tonight.  It's been hard to keep up with book club lately, and I miss it.  Will try again next time.

Hello everyone!

I will be unable to make tonight's book group.

I did read the book.  I noted several passages in the beginning pages, but after that - not much spoke to me.  I found the book to be too brief.  I needed more depth.  This is contrary to the author's perspective.

It would be interesting to read several of the author's other books.  His marketing background strongly came through his writing in The Dip.

Could I relate or transfer the information he provided?  Not really.

It would be good to hear what everyone else thought of the book - I may gain a better perspective.

Have fun - stay warm.

Weather concerns

Hello hello,

Alice called and let me know that the roads are extremely icy out her way and therefore won't be able to attend this evening.  We thought maybe we should see who is going to attend tonight.  Please drop me a line and let me know.  Please reply to all so everyone gets your message being we are on such short notice.  Thanks y' all!

P.S.  Kathy if you do decide to come tonight could you get the book from Alice???  This is no pressure for you to come only "if" you are coming. :)   I want everyone safe.

Tina.

January Meeting

Hi Everyone,

We will be meeting at the Wilkin on January 16th from 5 to 7 pm.  The front room is taken until 5:30 so we will play it by ear when we get there.  We can discuss times, dates and places at the meeting for future meetings.  The book is The Dip.  Right now, Alice has it and will pass it on to Kathy.  Thanks guys.  Enjoy your day.  I am stepping out until next Tuesday.

Tina.
