Subject: RE: RSVP for June
So looking forward to finally be back with all of you for our June book meeting. However I'll have to wait until August as my brother died yesterday morning..........the viewing and prayer service is Tuesday night. I've read the book "Still Alice" and highly recommend it. It's about a distinguished cognitive psychology Harvard professor who develops early onset Alzheimer's disease. It takes us into her life and the effect it has on her family and all who have known this brilliant woman. Very thought provoking and moving. Tina, please forward this to the rest of the club members as I'm not able to get "Reply All". Have a good night and will be waiting to hear what the rest of you have been reading. Alice
Hi everyone, Just wanted to expand on Maggie's comment: "…For several months there, we had small attendance and a lack of serious discussion because the selections were not able to be read… " I need to emphasize it is in our ground rules that attendance is always optional, no guilt for life is busy, the group is just for fun & reading the item is not necessary to attend. Thank you everyone & have a great day! Tina From: Maggie Vertin [mailto:mvertin@wah.midco.net] Regrets here – I am so disappointed to be missing our gathering again! For several months there, we had small attendance and a lack of serious discussion because the selections were not able to be read. . .now I am missing a couple in a row for discussions I would have loved to listen to. I have not lost any enthusiasm and hate to have to wait until August to see you all again. I will contribute a title for consideration of your summer reading: I have just returned from a trip to France and decided it would be fun to download a title like, "The Paris Wife" for the plane ride. I didn't read much on the plane, so am not finished with this novel about the first marriage of Ernest Hemmingway. Very entertaining so far, along the lines of "Loving Frank". Next I am going to tackle "The Great Journey: Americans in Paris" by David McCullough and would it suggest it as a fall selection for the group. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow evening, but am out of town and don't think I can make it back by 5PM. I hope to hear about everyone's salsa. Maggie From: Grenier, Tina [mailto:Tina.Grenier@ndscs.edu] Happy Monday Morning to all of you! Great discussion last month! A warm welcome to Cindy S. (Splichal)!
