Sorry, I won't be making it to the gathering tomorrow night.  I read the selection and do have an overriding impression which has to do with the believability of the story.  I keep wondering if it is, indeed, possible for someone to experience what Jimmy did through his early family life and later time in prison and still be able to emerge sane, law abiding and non-violent on the other side?  It's a question I am also poising to my two daughters, both of whom work as social workers with Public Defenders in major cities. . .it is a question I would also poise for your group discussion.
